Professional Consultation & Development

As therapists, we work in a complicated, exciting, and dynamic field. The good news is that research continues to be done so we’re learning more about how the mind, body, and soul interact with each other. The challenging news is that the field is always changing. It is my belief that because of these constant changes, it is our responsibility as mental health therapists and counselors to remain life-long learners and seek consultation to ensure we’re providing competent and holistic services. Just like my clients and consulates, I too have multiple consultants in the field to collaborate, network, and process this beautiful and messy field.

What is Consultation?

While both supervision and consultation involve a mentor-mentee relationship, consultation is more focused on a specific issue, while supervision is a continuous process of training and guidance; consultation does not replace supervision. At this time, supervision for pre-licensure therapists is not offered and BlueRaven doesn’t sign off on licensure hours.

Themes, Areas, and Topics

Consultees can seek consultation for a variety of reasons including

  • Clinical Decision Making: Seeking advice on a difficult case or treatment plan.

  • Expanding Knowledge: Learning about new techniques or approaches in therapy.

  • Professional Development: Improving clinical skills and knowledge.

With over a decade in the field, Bryn offers consultation for the following areas/themes:

  • Grief/Loss

  • Anxiety

  • Trauma

  • Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD)

  • Exposure Response Prevention (ERP)

  • Ketamine-Assisted Psychotherapy (KAP)

  • Office/room set-up supplies specifically for play and KAP therapists to create a culturally humble and welcoming environment.

Structure and Location

Consultation may focus on specific cases or review broader themes emerging from your clientele and settings. Consultation is available for therapists located in Colorado who are pre-licensed/licensed in person in Lakewood or virtual. If you’re interested in individual consultation as either a one-off or ongoing basis, please get in touch with Bryn to discuss your specific hopes and wishes.
